Dunnottar Castle:

Open: Easter-Oct: Mon-Sat 9.00am-6.00pm, Sun 2.00pm-5.00pm Nov-Mar: Mon-Fri 9.00am-sunset Ruined fortress dating from 12th century, spectacular setting. Scene of Victor Frankenstein, starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe.

Fettercairn Whisky Distillery:

In operation since 1824, making it one of Scotland’s oldest malt whisky distilleries. The Distillery is snugly tucked away at the foot of the Cairngorm mountains from which it takes spring water supplies.

National Nature Reserve, St Cyrus:

Open May-Sept and is FREE, various times, phone for details Visitor Centre, audio visual, marine life tank, dunes, cliffs and saltmarsh

Sunset Song; The Grassic Gibbon Centre

Lewis Grassic Gibbon is the celebrated pen-name of James Leslie Mitchell, one of the outstanding figures in Scottish Literature, world famous as the author of Sunset Song – released as a major film in 2015

Golf, Golf Golf!

There is no better base for the Golfer to explore!  Arguably the  world’s most reowned and certainly one of the most challenging courses Carnoustie is just down the road from our own Montrose, the 5th oldest course in the world.  This is no surprise really when we are only 1 ½ hours drive north of St Andrews, the very home of the Game.  There are over 70  Golf Courses in Aberdeenshire and the Wider North East.

Montrose Town:
Historic, links golf, museums and a super wildlife observatory at the Montrose basin this is 2 or 3 days touring alone!

Edzell and The Blue Door Walk to the Rocks of Solitude:

We love this walk as it is mostly level and is sheltered from the weather by beautiful beech trees. Deep gorge overlooking the River Esk. and it’s FREE

The Creel Restaurant:
(5 miles North) , Super seafood  and many more options, featuring real ales.

Montrose Air Station Museum:

The VERY FIRST RAF aerodrome, this is a fascinating visit, ghosts and all!
